the overconcentration of wealth means that the rich wield enormous influence over public policy.

the supposedly democratic process means that they still at least have to go through a visible, public process to get their way. so we see the ugliness. overconcentrations of wealth often lead to dictatorships where this sort of thing isn't even visible.

we're going to continue to get policies that heavily favor the ultra-rich unless and until we somehow reverse the overconcentration of wealth.
