1. Would being taught not to rape have helped?

I believe it would haves. If not the actual rapists, then some of those witnesses. Especially the ones who tried to stop it. Teenagers in a drunken stupor will do really stupid things, and some of them may have a vague feeling that what they see happening is wrong. If they were taught not to rape they would have been much more sure of the wrongness of what they saw.
