18. You think that goal is winnable?!? Seriously?

I would bet money that, if a comprehensive poll was conducted here on DU today, even here you wouldn't find majority support to ban all guns or the right to own guns in the US. In fact, numerous polls, though not comprehensive, HAVE been posted here at DU over the years asking similar questions. Without fail, it shows that even among a group that is far more progressive than the US as a whole, there isn't support for an all-out gun ban.

Now, take that to the streets, where you have a far less politically homogenous group, and your goal is absolutely UNWINNABLE.

And that doesn't even address the legalities of the numerous state constitutions that recognize the right to bear arms for defense OR the recent Supreme Court rulings in the past decade largely defending the 2nd Amendment.

The biggest result of OWS staging gun ban demonstrations? Probably more money flowing into the NRA's coffers than they've seen in decades, because you would be vindicating all their paranoid rants over the years about the "evil liberals" coming to take their guns away. Even moderate, responsible gun owners and hunters would take notice of that.
