I do admit I'm still trying to figure this out though myself.
Let me try again.
Dems want Tax Increases on the wealthy. Repubs do not.
The President knows what Repubs want more than anything else in the world. They want to cut SS benefits.
He also knows that Democrats and probably a lot of ordinary Republicans will go wild if they cut benefits. So, they come with with a plan, to give Repubs some cuts to SS and to make Dems feel that they are not really cuts.
So, he offers them the Chained CPI. Repubs want less tax raises for the wealthy, so they refuse. Obama doesn't understand, he gave them what they wanted.
This is the third time he offered them cuts to SS. But they want more.
But according to a few DUers, the president read their minds in advance and knew they would turn him down.
'They will turn down anything he offers'!!!! Okay, maybe.
So WHY, if that is the case, didn't he leave out SS since they would turn down anything he offered anyway?
