An open source project to shut down the NRA [View all]

I have no beef with gun owners. We'll never make guns illegal in this country. We probably even shouldn't. But we can decrease the outsize influence that the NRA has on our politics and maybe allow us to bring the hammer down a bit with some more restrictive gun laws.

How? By making NRA membership such a social stigma that any person accused of it will stammer and hem and haw and deny it with a vehemence reserved for accused sex offenders.

Scrape NRA associated web sites for any member names, articles about members and add those names to a public registry.

Take pictures of NRA bumper stickers and use reverse license lookup to get their names. Put then on the registry.

The point is SHAME. Don't invite these people to your Christmas party. Don't invite them into your house. Don't let your kids play with each other. They must be made untouchables.
