The news reports said that he had been physically abusing her for months, her family had known about it.

Women need to understand: these men don't need to be reformed, you need to leave them at the first sign of violence. There is no excuse for a 250lb male to ever beat up a woman half his size. LEAVE HIM DON'T FALL FOR HIS BULLSHIT EXCUSES. Just to be clear, this is not blame the victim, it's just common sense.
