You could see it in the campaign tactics. People who campaign on lies and rely on race-baiting, fear and ignorance - and the people who vote for them for those reasons - are not going to just say "Hey, you guys got us and ran a good campaign! Let's get to work!"

It's naive to think that that level of race-driven fear and resentment is simply put aside. Some of these people were programmed to believe that the scary black Muslim is conspiring to give free money to (black) welfare recipients and take away their guns. The petitioners for secession should be an indication of how fearful, angry and ignorant some of these people are.
