(10,558 posts)In watching a town hall meeting prior to the election I became convinced that this was actually a wolf in sheep's clothing. From what I learned, the legislation was deliberately written up to screw the hell out of drivers pulled over and tested for being under the influence.
Putting it in the perspective of alcohol, the laws as they are work as a deterrent. Get busted and you face a nightmare plus you face an industry exploiting your misery for their own profit. If the minimum tolerance for being an impaired driver was lowered by a ridiculous amount, say to the level of having a beer 48 hrs. prior to driving, it is obvious that there was no REAL impairment-that the new law was designed for another purpose:to feed an exploitive industry.
This from what I understand, is what the new legislation is designed to do. The amount of thc in ones system under the new law is retardedly low according to those I watched who advocated against this particular legalization. The guy who convinced me to vote against was a lawyer for NORML who made the claim that he would be utterly unable to defend drivers pulled over who failed the new drug tests.
I am for legalization, i am against shady characters who would design laws meant only to add money to their pockets.
Perhaps I got duped, the vote wound up for legalization. Time will tell who actually won: We The People or a shady industry seeking to create and exploit the misery of hapless drivers doing no real harm.
