(11,304 posts)38. I think it isn't the same either. My husband retired in 95 after 21 yrs of service. He felt that
since his parents adopted him when he was about 4 yrs old and brought him from Germany to the US he felt a sense of doing something for the country to pay back for the good he has received. He is that kind of a man. I'm very proud of him. Now he is retired and working at WalMart and it may not be the same but he gives to his job just like he did while in the service.
