It wasn't really that bad. My instinct, at the time, is that he just hated what he was hearing. Imagine: all of his last decade's power was slipping out of his slimy little hands with every state that went for the President, and he was honestly agitated at his beliefs being challenged in such an unforgiving, public, and irrefutable way.
