13. 2012 "defense" spending is $1,219bn

The cost of maintaining America's nuclear weapons is booked to the Dept of ENERGY. Huh?

The increased cost of Veteran's pensions due to the wars are booked to the SSA.

The costs of medical care for Veterans is booked somewhere else again.

All sorts of things are excluded from the official defense spending numbers.

The government does NOT WANT YOU TO KNOW what they are really spending.
