8. I don't see why churches shouldn't be taxed like every other business

 

They are a business selling faith.

The tithes paid to the Mormon Church are not charity.
The donations to the Mormons should not be tax deductible.

The Mormons use their money to build things like shopping malls.
They are a business, just like Billy Graham was a business and just like the Catholic church is a business.

There are already tax exemptions for specific charitable giving to a registered specific charity, like running a soup kitchen.
The Mormon church (or any other church) is not one of those, most of their money is spent on non charitable purposes, like paying their employees - the priests or the upkeep of their buildings (churches).
