Quite frankly, these people have a fundamentally warped sense of business.

They seem to believe that they create their own marketplace and that employees are at their whim.

Here's a memo for them; demand creates the marketplace and they are merely seeking to fill that demand. If they don't fill it, someone else will.

The next time someone tells you they are firing employees because of politics, just tell them not to forget the bow. They are giftwrapping their market share and handing it to their competitors. People will still find a place to buy a pizza even if you are too cheap to hire people to deliver yours. People will still find a place to eat a chicken sandwich even if you make yourself too nauseating an establishment to eat in.

If you don't want to fill the demand, crawl back under your rock and let someone else who actually understands business take over.
