In reply to the discussion: I tried to sympathize with the "mourning Romney" pics. And failed. [View all]democrattotheend
(11,605 posts)Not the rich Romney donors who lost money or the bloviating talking heads who predicted a Romney landslide. But on a human level, I can't help but feel bad for the activists who supported him, the people in those pictures. While I think their fears about Obama are completely unfounded, I remember what it was like to have a president who I felt was destroying the country and feeling powerless to stop it after 2004, and that all of my efforts to stop it had been for naught. Obviously I disagree with these people who think Obama is destroying the country, but I have no doubt that they believe it as sincerely as I believed Bush was. I was driving past Exit 89 on I-95 in Maryland when my mom called and told me Kerry conceded, and to this day I still get a nauseous feeling whenever I pass that exit. So on a human level, I have to feel sorry for the people who believed in Romney and worked hard for his campaign. I guess maybe I am too soft that way...I discovered in 2002 and 2004 that I can be a very sore loser, but not so much of a sore winner.
