The local gay republican-owned free weekly - I forget the name now - endorsed republican Pete Wilson for governor. A few weeks after his election he signed some kind of anti-gay legislation and the week after that the paper had a picture of Wilson on the front with the huge headline FUCK YOU.

I just had to laugh at that - the faux surprise and outrage. Were these people really that clueless to not understand the kind of person they were endorsing? I rather think they knew all too well but their greed and selfishness trumped everything else. The fuck you headline wasn't some outburst of shocked hurt surprise but only a CYA in a heavily gay community.
