distinguish their personal beliefs from objective fact. You can show them statistics, documents, quotes and credible sources to dispute them, and conservative nutjobs will believe what they want to believe, no matter how obviously untrue it may be. They are not tethered to reality. I have some extended family members like this (though they hate Obama more than they love the Republican party)--there's no point in arguing with them, because I will never change their minds. It's like trying to convince someone their religious beliefs are wrong.
