As a person of dubious ancestry; German, Black Irish (hence Spanish, Moor, African, etc...) I can applaud one's wanting to keep up with their culture, albeit by proxy.
As it is, my mother's children's ancestry is pure Filipino. From our conversations that go that way, they tell me that their mother says a few things about what she can remember of what her grandparents told her about the Philippines (they were the first generation). About all I can do is cuss in a few words and I'm not sure if they are Filipino, Polynesian or Pidgin.
Even these few 'cuss' words are mostly just vulgar body parts. I'd either get a date or slapped if I only said these to certain classes of people on the islands.
