depends what "tea party" actually means, and I doubt anybody has a good definition . He is definitely embraced and adopted by the tea party, their golden boy. But to me being a tea pertier implies a complete lack of substance, and that does not apply to Ryan. I profoundly dislike, distrust, am scared by, etc. his kind of substance, but I cannot say he is an empty shell with spelling problems, because he is not.
