77. MLK had the goal of equal treatment in public places.

He did not go after and speak out the owner of the business cause he knew that was futile and would only make a hero out of him.
No they stuck to the goal of equal TREATMENT...and did not get into attacking the ideas these people had.
You did not hear MLK or the civil rights movement speak out against George Wallace ideas or Lester Maddox or even Bull Conner...they knew that was a losing strategy and rejected it...they did speak out about what they DID.

And FYI I have seen the most horrible examples of bigotry...I was in Mississippi in 1965...and there is quite a difference between being denied the right to marry and being denied the right to walk down the same street as a withe man without getting off the sidewalk when he passed...not allowed to vote not allowed to walk down the road without being hit by a club from a pickup truk and it could even be the sheriff that did it...And all of this sanctioned by the local government.
If gay people are attacked it is a crime...then it was no crime to attack a black man.
And black people are still discriminated in employment...and that discrimination cannot be addressed by the law as long as they say that it is not their race that caused them not to hire...the same is true with gay people and in fact there may be discrimination against white people by black people...or religion over atheism or any thing you can name...but you cannot use the law to ferret this out and stop it..it takes a change of heart and no one will change the heart when the perceive that they are in a fight against the enemy.
Equal rights under the law is the only attainable goal...if you chase anything else it is a loser.
