It trends to be a progressively debilitating disease. Just because OP's daughter didn't discover it until very late does not mean that others who are in earlier stages are not struggling with the physical symptoms (many of which can be related to sensation and not outwardly visible) and the mental symptoms both caused by and aggravated by the disease.

OP should ask his/her daughter's doctors what percentage if their patients are like his/her daughter.
