3 GOP Electoral College members say they may not vote for Republican ticket of Romney/Ryan
"At least three Republican electors say they may not support their party’s presidential ticket when the Electoral College meets in December to formally elect the next president, escalating tensions within the GOP and adding a fresh layer of intrigue to the final weeks of the White House race.
The electors — all supporters of former GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul — told The Associated Press they are exploring options should Mitt Romney win their states. They expressed frustration at how Republican leaders have worked to suppress Paul’s conservative movement and his legion of loyal supporters." Link Do not dismiss this so easily. The Paulites are very passionate. About twenty delegates even walked out of the convention in Tampa two weeks ago. Earlier this year, a couple of dozen state delegates loyal to Paul even brought the RNC to court to unbound their convention votes.

7. No, they are only nominated, just like the candidates.

9. To clarify...
|
The electors have been selected by both parties (or more, depending on how many party/candidate qualifies to be on the state ballot).
Whether they cast an official vote or not in December, is dependent on the result of their party's candidates on Nov 6. |

8. It's basically as though Mitt lost Wyoming before the election even starts...
|
But it does depend on where they're from. If it's three electors from Massachusetts or someplace where Obama is bound to win, it's a moot point. If they're from Texas (or Wyoming) or any other red state, it could make a difference in a close electoral college.
But as has been said above, let's not let it be that close! |
