When Will a Democrat have the courage to....

Resurrect FDR's proposed 2nd Bill of Rights?

Although it never became a reality, the 2BOR seems to represent everything Democrats should be fighting for. Why are so many content to let it languish in the dustbin of history?

3. Well, you're a Democrat, so what are you waiting for?

Go. Do whatever you have to do.

4. Because the 2nd Bill of Rights contains principles the rightwing has spent decades propagandizing...

.....against!

The Economic Bill of Rights:

The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;

The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;

The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return which will give him and his family a decent living;

The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;

The right of every family to a decent home;

The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;

The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident, and unemployment;

The right to a good education.

The right's think tanks, like the Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute, have spent decades trying to destroy FDR's reputation at the same time they've built up the legend around Ronald Reagan.

5. Same with the Equal Rights Amendment

Now more than ever, it's time. With an addendum that a woman has the 100% final decision on whether, when and how many children she chooses to bear.
