Wow! Montana - the "Big Sky" state - turns blue in most top statewide races!

Most of the counting is done, including votes from the top population centers. Despite the votes that are still out, these results should stand.

Except for Attorney General, Montana is reliably blue. Here are the profiles of the AG candidates:

Tim Fox (R) - the winner: http://www.ktvq.com/news/montana-attorney-general-candidate-profile-tim-fox/

Pam Bucy (D): http://www.ktvq.com/news/montana-attorney-general-candidate-profile-pam-bucy/

This was Fox's second run for the office and name recognition may have helped.

Here are the federal results - not nearly as blue. http://electionresults.sos.mt.gov/resultsSW.aspx?type=FED&map=CTY

President Obama didn't visit the state at all this cycle, likely at Tester's request.

3. I agree. This year, there was a lot of

outside Teabagger influence. There are also a lot of Rushbots and Faux-believers.

As with so many supposedly "red" states, had Prez Obama campaigned there, he could have given Romney a real run for the money, IMO.

But given the dynamics of this particular Presidential election, including the influence of outside PAC monies after the USSC unwisely struck down a state statute specifically prohibiting this (not to mention the disastrous Citizens United decision) and with Tester having a tough race of his own where even the slightest identification with "unpopular" national policies of the President might have tipped the balance, the Obama campaign wisely focused resources where they should have.

For the future, I believe that my birth state is definitely one for the Dems to cultivate, even if only for the psychological impact such a victory would have on other Western states.
