7. You are in for a real treat. Thom consistently delivers a quality program.

I could say a million wonderful things about him and about his show. He is so well informed, and solution-oriented. I try to listen as often as possible, particular when I am in despair about politics and the condition of our country. Thom lifts my spirits, Thom says despair is not an option.

I think Thom's quality show attracts smart callers.

5. Did Romney call the President "boy"? Thom thinks when Romney referenced his "boys" and lies

in the debate, that Romney was implying that Obama is a boy. As a result Obama was thrown off and stifled in the debate. Thom believes Romney's strategy was to behave as a bully last night.

ROMNEY: So if the tax plan he described were a tax plan I was asked to support, I'd say absolutely not. I'm not looking for a $5 trillion tax cut. What I've said is I won't put in place a tax cut that adds to the deficit. That's part one. So there's no economist that can say Mitt Romney's tax plan adds $5 trillion if I say I will not add to the deficit with my tax plan.

Number two, I will not reduce the share paid by high-income individuals. I know that you and your running mate keep saying that and I know it's a popular thing to say with a lot of people, but it's just not the case. Look, I've got five boys. I'm used to people saying something that's not always true, but just keep on repeating it and ultimately hoping I'll believe it. But that -- that is not the case. All right? I will not reduce the taxes paid by high-income Americans.

8. I think it's a stretch to say that Romney was calling the President boy

But he was calling the President AND his own 5 sons liars.

9. Yes he was. His sons are probably used to that though.

Mitt is a bully even in his own family.

And I think that Ann is as well. I feel for her household staff.

11. It was an intentional juxtapose...

Maybe Romney is dumb enough to not realize he was getting dangerously close to racism

14. I thought that was really strange too

That comment didn't make any sense, as it doesn't reflect well on his sons or himself. Makes me think they are all habitual liars just like Romney. Also, why doesn't he sayhe has five sons? His sons are all in their early 30's to early '40's, so it's kind of weird to be calling them "boys".

15. I get it because we have sons who are 30 and 28

MY DH and I still refer to them as "the boys". And my Mom still calls my brother and me "kids"

The strange part to me was joking about them being liars. It was very degrading to his sons AND to the president.

10. Interesting. Had not considered this

though I'm sort of curious about why he would think that implying to the rest of us that his sons are a bunch of liars would be a good idea/improve his image.

13. Romney was so condescending to the President last night, I half expected him to call him 'boy.'

I literally was thinking that word was going to come out of his mouth any moment.

So maybe there is something to Thom Hartmann's theory and that juxtaposition worked on a subliminal level? A subtle stereotype threat to put the President off his game?
