3. The manufacture and import of new ones are illegal

but those grandfathered in before, I believe, 1984 are still legal to own, all you have to do is pass an up your ass background check, pay the $200.00 tax stamp and then have the coin to buy an automatic weapon, which are quite expensive.

9. They are default illegal.

Unless you have gone through the very special process to receive permission to own one, and can afford the artificially inflated prices.

But you knew that.

Don't waste your time. I welcome less deadly personal arms public policy wherever I can get it.

17. I think they both got it wrong:

President Obama:

"And so what I want is a is a comprehensive strategy. Part of it is seeing if we can get automatic weapons that kill folks in amazing numbers out of the hands of criminals and the mentally ill."

18. Or, a sort of dog whistle

to tell the antis what they want to hear "we could introduce" while telling the pros, who are deaf, "I don't know anything on the subject, but I'm not going to repeal NFA."

26. Close enough to it.

There was plenty else to bash Romney about. I give him a pass on that. For the ordinary, non-wealthy citizen, there are just too many hurdles to jump through to get a legal one. It was easier to say that they were illegal than to explain the details of getting one legally.

28. Well, I've worked at a lab that legally had cocaine in it, but I'd still call cocaine "illegal"

"Illegal for general civilian ownership" is accurate, though.

29. No it's not illegal for the general civilian population

to own one, but the price of one is usually out of range for the general civilian population.

32. That minigun you showed isn't civilian-legal

It's a "post-sample" weapon. That means only military, law enforcement, and certain specially licensed gunsmiths.
