2. A "virtual" March...that'll do it!

I did sign this petition but I disagree with the tactic. I'm not surprised, tho. After the March in 2004, where 1.1 million prochoice demonstrators descended on Washington, the press ignored it. Some prochoice leaders complained that they "had all these people turn out and the press didn't cover it!" It sounded so whiny to me...

Sorry, I just think this is a real retreat or just a lapse of creative thinking. It seems so many aging prochoice leaders (and I am certainly aging myself!) are not trying new things or not trying hard enough to win more hearts and minds. Compare with the example of the protesters in Madison WI, or the push for marriage equality, or the Occupy movement. Things CAN be done. But we have to lead or get new leaders with fresh ideas.

We can do this. But if we wait until an anti choice president is elected and/or we fail to take back the House of Representatives or lose the Senate, we will be in deeper, deeper, deeper trouble. This is a serious moment. Time for some new leadership!*

*I say this as the grandmother of 3 girls ages 16, 13 and 10. I am scared that my generation will have bequeathed to them a reversal of reproductive rights in this country. It really haunts me...
