1. Cool photos. Made me look up what the names for the groups of animals are...

A group of raccoons is known as a nursery or a gaze. The male of a raccoon is known as a boar, the female is called a sow and the young is known as a cub.

A group of badgers is called a clan or cete.

A group of alligators is called a congregation when used in reference to adult alligators. If referring to a group of hatchlings or juveniles, pod is the correct.

The correct term for referring to a group of cats is 'clowder'. Interestingly, there are also two other valid ways to refer to a group of cats, other than just saying "group of cats" or "cats". Those other two terms are 'clutter' and 'glaring'.
In addition to this, if one wants to refer to a group of wild cats (or some GD denizens), the correct terms are 'dowt' and 'destruction'.

6. Ah...

Thanks. I've never seen a badger-- we don't have them in California. Probably too warm for them?

a.

8. FWIW, the Wiki article says they do live in CA.

Heat doesn't slow them down. The legendary honey badger is all over Africa.
