Teh stupid. It burns. Literally!

And right on my way home, too!

Several people were treated for burn injuries by the San Jose Fire Department after participating in a firewalk Thursday night at a Tony Robbins event in downtown, according to a fire captain.

San Jose fire Capt. Anthony Melendrez did not have an exact number of people treated for burn injuries but said there were "quite a few people" who walked across the coals of the fire.

"Several people had called for help because of burns to the feet," Melendrez said.

Tony Robbins is hosting an event at the San Jose Convention Center called Unleash the Power Within, according to his Website. There he promotes "The Firewalk Experience," a process where people walk across coals between 1,200 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit.

I should've stopped in and heated up my leftover pizza.

Lest you think I'm just a hater, I've been to a Tony Robbins event. He wasn't there, but his acolytes had me break a quarter-inch board with a martial arts move. I had a look at the board beforehand: it was made of really soft pine, with some flex to it. So naturally it would break if stuck in that direction. No injuries for me. (Mom, on the other hand, couldn't get it done at first and was one of a handful of people called into the center to try really, really hard. )

1. Ew, foot pizza, no thanks.

I'm not drinking wine made from grapes stomped with the human foot, either, even if it was Lucy's foot. Yuck.

Why would people do such dumb stunts?

2. It was probably paulownia, not pine. That's the standard breaking board wood.

A 1/4" board is nothing for anyone over 4. My youngest could go through six of them by the time she was 10.
