Papantonio: Tea Party Purge Would Save Republican Party

Thanks to the invasive species known as the Tea Party, the modern GOP has been pushed to the farthest fringe of American politics. The question now is whether the party can purge the Tea Baggers and move back to the center, or if they’ll continue to shift further to the fringe right until they disappear completely. Mike Papantonio answers that question with Paul Waldman, contributing editor of the American Prospect.
1. As much as I dislike giving advice to Republicans, I agree.
For the sake of the party, they must shift back towards the center and denounce TeaPartyism, as demographic trends and societal norms are running against them. Plus it's not like the fringe bigots have anybody else to choose from besides the GOP. They'll never vote Democratic, so who else is there to choose from? The Libertarians?
