Trans-Pacific Partnership: A Plan for ‘Corporate Global Governance’

The Trans-Pacific Partnership, a secretive international trade pact under consideration by the Obama administration, would force American policy to conform to the whims of foreign corporations operating in the U.S. by allowing them to appeal key regulations to an international tribunal. That body would have the power to override U.S. law and issue penalties for failure to comply with its rulings. Lori Wallach of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch tells us exactly what the agreement would do.

“... It’s been branded as a trade agreement, but really it is enforceable corporate global governance,” she tells “Democracy Now!”

“This isn’t just a bad trade agreement. This is a 1-percenter power tool that could rip up our basic needs and rights,” Wallach says.

3. Do Presidents still have to answer to the people who elect them into office?

I'd like the man I voted for in 2008 to address this issue. Because for me a Democratic President secretly negotiating to remove our ability to regulate global corporations is unacceptable.

4. Good

Just like Clinton handing the corporations the press.
What you don't know... corporation corruption? Never see it unless it is so blatant that they get caught by the cops.

It is just another step toward NWO...
lol

Oh the teabaggers are going to scream on this one.

5. Will that mean foreign corporations

are also people, their $money will also be speech? oh good, we humans keep falling further down the food chain.

Where is the Council of Foreign Relations in this one?

The Masonic Order is going to take a lot more hits via Knights Templar.

Boy are the conspiracy theorists going to be happy!

Not to mention the joy of the "End Times" folks like Hal Lindsey.

Times to start singing loudly..."We shall overcome some daaaaay.'

7. some Dems are arguing that the TPP is "too boring" to understand...

and that anything progressives would say in critique...well, that's just opinion.

10. That was an informative thread.

It was beyond amusing to watch the frustrations of a small minority
in their failed attempt to hi-jack the thread.
Kudos to the OP who managed to politely stay On Topic despite the childish harassment .

8. This is an obscenity.

And it's going to make it harder and harder for people to survive.

The PNAC didn't say that it wanted to starve 2/3 of the world's population, but that's apparently what it's coming down to. Do they think their cash will save them when the world ends? We're in for another dark ages if this continues.

9. The 1% lived well during the Dark Ages.

They lived very well during the Gilded Age and the Great Depression too.

13. Up to a point.

There may not be any population to support them, and this time the fiat system has nothing to back it up but the power of government that they have been systematically dismantling. There is a limit.

15. This T- PeePee is a Teabagger's dream

It sets up a separate legal system, and extra special privileges, for corporations to control governments and their citizens through unelected Tribunals packed with corporate friendly judges.

It has very little to do with trade and very much to do with controlling the citizens of a country.

Since Teabaggers love the money they get from corporations, they should just love this NAFTA on steroids.

What really boggles my mind is how our federal government is going along with this corporate T-PeePee and keeping it a deep DARK SECRET from their citizens, obviously against the wishes of their citizens, and taking power away from the very government that is putting together this treaty. It is giving more power to corporations than to our Constitution and laws.

If this piece of T-PeePee is passed, our government would be nothing but a clearing house for enforcing corporate rule. It will make our President, House of Representatives, Senate and Supreme Court powerless and practically useless.

Why would our own government be developing a document in secret to take away their own power?

Has fascism so invaded our politics that elected officials can't see when their power is stripped away by corporations?
