"How the Common Good Is Transforming Our World"

Excellent article, albeit nearly two years old. Still applies-- perhaps even more so than then.

My opinion:
I think it's only a matter of time before the repukes splinter-- the neocons just can't keep it together much longer. They thought by going to the extreme that they could hold onto the republican party. It's not working because they refuse to change their beliefs-- they haven't been able to change with the times because change/evolution is counter to everything they believe in. They will splinter-- or may completely disintegrate--if they don't rethink their beliefs. And, frankly, IMO, their beliefs don't fit into today's world. They're scared to death of change but in this life, nothing is static. The party will ultimately deteriorate to such an extent that it will no longer hold any power or respect. And I think that has been happening for well over a decade (remember "Contract on America?)

A Fable
The Oak tree always thought that he was far stronger than the reeds. He said to himself "I stand upright in a storm. I don't bend my head in fear every time the wind blows. But these reeds are really so weak."

That very night blew a storm and the mighty oak tree was uprooted. "Good God!" sighed the reeds, "our way is better. We bend but we don't break." And they sprung back stronger than ever.

MORAL : Pride goeth before a fall

But what it's really all about is "the common good."

1. I concur. The detest change and that alone will kill them...

...and it's instructive, or should be, to all of us.

We have to be fluid and organic and adaptive, too.

2. Exactly-- and the Dems seem to keep up with changes our world is going through

and are easily able to incorporte new beliefs because they are open-minded, while the repugs... well.
