Gingrich: 176K donors want me to stay in race

Source: CBS This Morning

Newt Gingrich has been battling calls for him to drop out of the Republican presidential race, after losing both the Mississippi and Alabama primaries Tuesday. But the former House Speaker said today his campaign will continue up to the party's convention in Tampa.

When asked by Charlie Rose under what circumstances he would end his campaign before the convention, Gingrich replied, "Probably none."

"I have 176,000 donors," he said. "Everywhere I went in Illinois yesterday, people came up to me and said, 'Please stay in the race, please represent big ideas, please represent things like $2.50 a gallon gas, a personal Social Security fund.'"

1. Newt, I sincerely want you to stay in the race too.

Don't let the establishment take you out! Fight all the way to the convention! And while you're at it, please give us as much material as possible as to why the other two would make a lousy president.

Kiss kiss!

3. I wonder why money keeps showing up for newt?

My personal theory is that its Rmoney backers, doing everything in their power to keep Santorum from getting more votes.

6. That has to be a lot more than he's got to vote so far.

Must be some really, really, big primaries coming up.

11. Well, 175,999 plus Sheldon Adelson.

And only one of them is making a big difference.

14. I wonder if he's received that many votes yet?

Turnout in these primaries has been abysmal. Has the number of actual votes for Gingrich exceeded the number of his donors?

I personally think it's time to see Newt tossed overboard. He's too evil to allow him a chance to be within a couple of heartbeats of the White House. He'll stop those hearts to get where he wants to be.
