1. Oh, what fresh hell is this?

I'm glad people are being observant so that this sort of thing can get taken care of.

4. I doubt you'd be this uncaring

if you lived in either NYC or Boston. If an unattended package being called to the attention of the authorities defines panic to you, I feel very sorry for you.

10. Actually...

It is the mainstream news reporting of an unattended package which promotes the panic. Certainly it should be reported, but every unattended package does not warrant a national news story or DU late breaking news

Not to mention it was a non-event and the all-clear given.

5. I live in Pittsburgh and I take public transit every day

Personally, I would prefer that the cops come check out suspicious unattended packages at my bus stop, even it means that sometimes they turn out to be nothing.

9. That's because you live in the real world

and not the fantasy one that some here like to pretend it is. If I see something unattended and seemingly belonging to nobody, you bet your ass I'll get a cop to check it out.

6. What's sad is some sick pricks will probably leave sealed but empty containers lying around

just to see what type of reaction it gets from the public and law enforcement.
