Hillary Clinton super PAC launched
Source: Washington Post
A super PAC supporting Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for president in 2016, “Ready for Hillary,” was registered with the Federal Election Commission on Friday. The group is chaired by Allida Black, founder of the Eleanor Roosevelt Papers Project at George Washington University and Roosevelt Institute. Black was also behind a pro-Clinton PAC in the 2008 primary, WomenCount, and she pushed for Clinton’s name to be put into nomination at the convention that year. (Black was a delegate from Virginia.) She told reporters at the time that she had cashed in her retirement savings to follow Clinton to 14 states. She and Judy Beck, her partner and the group’s treasurer, served on Clinton’s Virginia Women’s Steering Committee in that election. “Our purpose is simple: We are ready to work for Hillary to be president when she is ready to run,” Black told the Center for Public Integrity, which first noticed the filing. “When our Web site launches in a few weeks, we plan to reach out to our grass-roots networks and contributors to mobilize them to support her.” Read more: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/01/28/hillary-clinton-super-pac-launched/?hpid=z3

Last edited Tue Jan 29, 2013, 04:16 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Of course there was more than one person who wanted to know if she was going to run for president, but what a German student in the BBC of London's studio said, resonated with me. The girl asked her the same question, but added that seeing Hillary become the first US president would be a great symbol for girls and women around the world.
I see right on this OP several people complaining that Hillary is not "progressive" enough, but forgetting what she means to many people around the world. For example, I remember when she went to Cambodia and made a point of visiting a girl's orphanage. Every girl there had been made to work in the sex trade from a very young age and now they were protected and getting an education. Just by her mere presence, the plight of these girls received wide publicity and the government couldn't hide them under the rug. Similar stories abound. |

Just think of how much more she'll do for women around the world once she's our president. She will literally change the world as we know it and go down in history as the one responsible for it.

Last edited Tue Jan 29, 2013, 06:58 PM USA/ET - Edit history (11) The last thing we need is another corporate lackey and warmonger.
This is, however, how the system has been rigged and where we are headed as a result of the corporate money that now floods Washington in both political parties and in all parts of our government, media, and electoral system. Most of the Bush economic, war, police state, education, trade, and energy agenda has already been extended and expanded for the past four years. We are looking at four more, and, inevitably, many are already planning ahead for even more of the same with Clinton or a Third Way clone of Clinton in 2016. Just imagine what our civil rights and the surveillance state will look like by then. Just imagine our corporatized schools and our spanking new pipeline, life after the new NAFTA-on-steroids free trade agreement, and after more austerity and bipartisan assaults on Social Security and Medicare. Just imagine where the drones will be by then, within our country and overseas. Imagine even more escalation of the neocon policy agenda for the next eight to twelve years. And imagine it all presented to us, again, as the lesser of two evils...the best we can possibly hope for...because the other party is even worse. Do you feel sick yet? Our next two corporate Presidential candidates will be selected by the Rockefeller types who can bankroll them. The one percent who have purchased and restructured our electoral system have already ensured that it will be virtually impossible for anyone without their blessing to have a serious shot at a run for President. They will destroy with their deep pockets, increasingly consolidated media (thanks to Obama's FCC, which is working on this now...), rigged and restructured electoral system, and vastly superior funding any upstart who tries to get in the way. This is where we are headed, inevitably, if we simply keep on the path we are on and don't even try, between now and then, to rally the country to stand up and demand the corporate money out of our elections and our government. Have we had enough yet, America? |
