Rand Paul: Chris Christie Will Regret Going Off On GOP

Source: TPM

IGOR BOBIC 3:50 PM EST, FRIDAY JANUARY 18, 2013

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said on Friday that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will come to rue the day he so publicly criticized the Republican party over objecting to Hurricane Sandy relief and the National Rifle Association over a controversial ad about President Obama's daughters.

“I think criticizing the Second Amendment movement and the over-the-top ‘give me my money’ stuff, ‘I want all 60 billion now or I’ll throw a tantrum,’ I don’t think that’s going to play well in the Republican primary,” Paul said on Laura Ingraham's show, according to the Huffington Post.

He sounds like a right wing tract when he speaks. Only mindless platitudes with nothing of substance to add to the debate.

I'm no fan of the man. He did the right thing in putting politics aside to work with the President, but Paul probably doesn't realize he's pretty popular across the political spectrum right now except for the nutcases in Paul's corner.

13. He will never go Dem - don't even think will go Indie

I think he sees himself as a savior of the Repugs ( and the nation, while he is egomaniacally at it) by being such a powerful, media-attracting personage as to shut down the crazies, with blue collar Dem help.

I still see him as a bully at heart, especially in education, and a "connected" crook with the deals with the halfway houses exorbitant contracts, BUT whether such issues trump the media "straight talk" love remains to be seen.

a dick but he's not stupid. I think he's taking a calculated risk that the teabaggers and paulists are on their way down, and that by 2016 the GOPers may have recovered a semblance of sanity. I wouldn't be so sure - the stoopid is powerful among the GOP - but there are some cracks in the hull that are starting to spread. I think Christie is planning on selling himself as one of the few GOPers that didn't completely give into the stoopid or sell out to the teabaggers.

Like I said - he's a dick but not an idiot.

Christie's a dick in a lot of ways, but accusing him of planning to "put out a contract" on another person is wrong.

So is the assertion that anyone from New Jersey must be connected to the mob.

43. Don't threaten my governor!

I've had little good to say about Christie since he was elected. His whole bully act has been pretty annoying and his anti-teacher rhetoric has been plain obnoxious. But Christie has been spot on regarding Sandy relief and the NRA. And I've got to give him a lot of credit on how he handled the immediate aftermath of Sandy, especially his interactions with Obama.

Rand is nothing but a little POS and if he thinks Christie takes well to threats, well he might find out that Chris Christie gets the last laugh. Christie is a guy who could actually reclaim the Republican Party from the nuts.

They have been imploding for a long time now and have lost the last two presidential elections. This year they blew their chance to take the Senate by fielding idiot candidates and lost seats in the House.

55. Kentucky receives more per federal tax dollar paid...

...than does New Jersey, one of the top so-called donor states. Figures vary by year, but sometimes New Jersey is the top donor state. See link below.

http://visualeconomics.creditloan.com/united-states-federal-tax-dollars/

Quite apart from Paul's hypocrisy, there's his sheer mean-spiritedness and shortsightedness. The East Coast was hit by a rare and unbelievably damaging storm, and on top of that it's an area of dense population and high economic activity. Sane, mature politicians treat the states like members of a family, not like enemy rivals.

Christie may connect with the New Jersey/New York area but everywhere else his actions could be a liability.

I don't see Christie getting through the primary in 2016. It will be someone like Rubio or Jeb or who knows.

A Christie independent run would certainly be entertaining and could be dangerous for either side since Christie seems to have some appeal to independents as some Democrats in his region.
