Report: Boehner Told Harry Reid ‘Go F**k Yourself’
Source: TPM
DAVID TAINTOR 7:24 AM EST, WEDNESDAY JANUARY 2, 2013 During tense fiscal cliff negotiations, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) last Friday told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) "go fuck yourself," according to a Politico report published early Wednesday. Boehner confronted Reid in the White House lobby and later bragged about it to his colleagues, according to the report. -30- Read more: http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/report-boehner-told-harry-reid-go-f-k The Politico article: The fiscal cliff deal that almost wasn't House Speaker John Boehner couldn’t hold back when he spotted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in the White House lobby last Friday. It was only a few days before the nation would go over the fiscal cliff, no bipartisan agreement was in sight, and Reid had just publicly accused Boehner of running a “dictatorship” in the House and caring more about holding onto his gavel than striking a deal. “Go f— yourself,” Boehner sniped as he pointed his finger at Reid, according to multiple sources present. Reid, a bit startled, replied: “What are you talking about?” Boehner repeated: “Go f— yourself.” The harsh exchange just a few steps from the Oval Office — which Boehner later bragged about to fellow Republicans — was only one episode in nearly two months of high-stakes negotiations laced with distrust, miscommunication, false starts and yelling matches as Washington struggled to ward off $500 billion in tax hikes and spending cuts. -snip- http://dyn.politico.com/printstory.cfm?uuid=249B8F6D-1AB7-43C9-95A0-F33AEF1B8ADA

29. Hmm
|
Those tactics are done to try to enact mass social change using actual civil disobedience. Provacative activism. In crafting and strategizing legislation those tactics are harder to translate. What is needed is actual, loud, and boisterous opposition. What is also needed is for the Democrats to get their crap together and start doing messaging better.

He doesn't really have a right to be pissed off, since it was his own predictable behavior that allowed Democrats to tack down the tax deal so tight that he couldn't undo it in two years.
Now, just to save a little face and to have any chance of being reelected Speaker, he has to surrender to a "compromise" that doesn't satisfy any of his own benefactors' objectives and all of the President's. And, we made him look like a pussy and made him work through the holidays--and if there is one thing Boehner doesn't like, it is work--just to get the raw deal he's getting. He's a chump, and he's starting to figure that out. That's why he's angry. |
