By JENNIFER PELTZ
NEW YORK (AP) - A person familiar with the case says former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and a New York City hotel maid who accused him of trying to rape her have reached an agreement to settle her lawsuit.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday on condition of anonymity to discuss the private negotiation.
Strauss-Kahn lawyer William Taylor won't comment. Lawyers for the housekeeper haven't responded to messages.
The French newspaper Le Monde, citing people close to Strauss-Kahn, says the parties will meet Dec. 7 in New York to sign a $6 million agreement.

9. The amount quoted is suspect.
Strauss-Kahn in preliminary deal to settle case with maid.
U.S. and France-based lawyers for Strauss-Kahn, who was once tipped to become French president, on Friday acknowledged a deal was under discussion, but said it had not yet been finalised.
They also denied as "flatly false" and "fanciful" a report that he agreed on a $6 million (3.7 million pounds) settlement.
"The parties have discussed a resolution but there has been no settlement. Mr. Strauss-Kahn will continue to defend the charges if no resolution can be reached," Strauss-Kahn's U.S. lawyers, William Taylor and Amit Mehta, said in a statement.
"Media reports that Dominique Strauss-Kahn has agreed to pay six million dollars to settle the civil case are flatly false."

4. if that happened (charged with rape) to
a non-monied average Joe, the prosecutor would have pressed charges anyway. It was a crime and regardless of his financial standing he should be prosecuted.

6. Have you dealt with any prosecutors directly regarding a case before?
I have. They try their damnedest to not press a case sometimes. "We can't prove..." is how they start many sentences when speaking directly to the victim. Investigators do it too. It can be very discouraging to someone who is already going through a difficult situation. Some just walk away without ever getting justice, but others get their own lawyer and press a civil case.
Ironically, other times, prosecutors latch on to a case like a pit bull even when evidence is flimsy and get the wrong person convicted. I guess it just depends on who the victim was and who the perp was. And the character of the prosecutor themselves of course.

10. Unfortunately, I have two times.
I was married to a "crazy bitch." She felt she could control me through the threat of inventing legal charges which were absurd.
After I divorced her, I hear that she got mental help and and it helped, idk and do not want to. She called the cops once and said that I had slapped her and left. It was a lie. I had left to get away from her mouth, no physical altercation. She had no marks, never the less I was arrested and prosecuted for domestic violence. The second time this happened, she said that I hit her in the head with an ashtray. I was arrested. I told her (promised her) that unless she told the truth to the court, I was suing for divorce immediately. She told the truth and spent 5 days in jail. In both cases she had refused to prosecute, yet the prosecutor pursued domestic violence charges.. thank God that I realized the children were suffering whether or not I stayed married to her. I divorced her and my Son (my only blood child in this mess) , lives with me. My 2 step-daughters wanted to live with me until their Mother shipped them off to relatives...

11. Borrowing $3 million from his wife and the rest from a bank, says Le Monde
I guess his wife can kiss that money goodbye.
Worth it to get rid of the pig though.
