Rep. Deshotel Challenges Gov. Perry To Drug Test Elected Officials Not Just Needy Texans
Source: Burnt Orange Report
Today State Rep. Joe Deshotel (D-Beaumont) expressed his dismay that our state leaders would continue to propose laws that harass Texans who are struggling the most. He suggested that elected officials be drug tested to prove tax dollars aren't going to "drug abusers", but why stop there?... Read more: http://www.burntorangereport.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=12939

10. NO!!!! It's not a great idea!

People need to understand and look what will happen in the long run. Government drug testing is unconstitutional!!!! Give the state the right to drug test for welfare, and soon you will be drug tested to get a license or buy a house or car. Let them drug test politicians and soon there will be random drug testing for all!!!

OH this so reminds me of the airline industry.
The FAA requires random drug and alcohol testing for certain airline employees and has always had some questionable issues. Years ago, at one of the U.S. carriers, the employees challenged the executive management to join in for the random testing. The management declined and said that they were not in the "safety and security sensitive" jobs, that the FAA required to be tested. LOLOLOLOL! Of all the "brass". They can drive an airline into liquidation and steal it blind, putting thousands of employees out of work and stranding thousands and thousands of passengers...but they won't even volunteer to be tested. I'm sure that we will hear an identical story out of Czar Perry and his fellow Rulers. |

of top level elected positions?
What would be "unconstitutional" about that? "We the People" elect them and want to know that they are working/on the job sober! |

are archaic. I've had three. One was false positive, one false negative and one that resulted in a job offer being pulled after I disclosed migraine medication at the time of testing.
My urine does not produce accurate or helpful results. And as Chris Rock says, "They are already poor. You want them to be sober too?" |

there have been so many people fired in the airline industry for bizzare results.
The only group powerful enough to fight back are the pilots. |
