Paula Broadwell at brother’s D.C. home [Govt now holding her NC driver's license "indefinitely"]

Source: Politico

...Separately, Broadwell’s driver’s license was found in D.C.’s Rock Creek Park on Nov. 11, a spokesman for the Maryland-National Capital Park Police told POLITICO.

The police informed the FBI and were instructed to keep the license “indefinitely,” said Lt. Bill Kellogg, the spokesman....

1. This sounds to me like ...

1) She is meeting with her DC lawyer.
2) She will be called to testify soon??? (And now can't drive away somewhere and avoid it).

Also -- isn't there a constitutional right called "Freedom of Locomotion" - ? How can the govt keep her driver's license?

This is all sounds very weird to me, her not having her driver's license.

6. Driving is a privilege, not a right.

I think that there is US case law that makes freedom of movement about the country a virtual right, but that does not include any right to having a driver's license. However, if a person has met the requirements laid out by state law for owning one, I don't think the government can arbitrarily withhold it. It does seem odd that the FBI would hold it, but perhaps she can claim it at any time.

29. Without a driver's license, she can't get on a plane unless she has her passport.

I would expect that passport to be revoked as well.

Also, without her driver's license or passport, she can't get into Canada or Mexico.

I wonder if she was in her home when the FBI came in to get all her documents relating to Petreaus.

38. her passport can't be revoked as such

But it can sure be seized to prevent her from fleeing the country.

3. So it could be found there when she vanished from

the face of the earth. That is pretty tin foily but it is what I think might have been happening before it was realized that the horse was so far out of the barn that wacking her would not solve anything.

8. Very Interesting

If I am clear here, do you submit that she "lost" her license on purpose as a means of protecting her life? I buy that theory, if she thought she might be whacked she was leaving some bread crumbs. BTW Chandra Levy was killed in the same park.

10. I hadn't really thought of that possibility. However, if that were the case

wouldn't something in a safe deposit box be a better idea? My thought was that whoever planned to whack her got ahold of the license, thinking Chandra Levy.

At any rate, it certainly is strange.

If you lost your driver's license, and the park found it, wouldn't you think you could get it back? She can't get it back. Why not?
Sort of puts the brakes on her book tour, don't you think?

18. But wait, there's more...

I feel so silly about all this now but I still hold that it was way more than a naughty little sex scandal...

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2012/11/david-petraeus-scandal-explained

A well organized timeline by MotherJones... it's long and I'm looking for anything really new. Only thing I've found so far is that Jill's twin had an affair with fmr. FL gov. Crist.

It might have been a pretend affair for show, but I sincerely doubt that it was consummated.

24. May well be...

I was still reading through it when I posted the link. It doesn't make sense but who knows? This whole thing is so convoluted. I think the most telling and worthy part of the article was where they said that it was a love triangle that turns out to have so many sides there may be no defining what shape it actually has!

36. I think the whole story about almost everything may well be fake

I would like to see the name and photo of the FBI personal friend who allegedly began this whole chain of events with
Jill Kelley's alleged complaint. I am thinking such FBI guy may not exist; thus, he is only described as "shirtless" in a photo sent to Kelley.
Maybe it all started with Cantor, etc.

15. Just the Drivers License? No wallet, credit cards, photos, or other stuff usually found in a wallet.

An drivers license just laying somewhere in the park, by itself. VERY strange. No police report by Broadwell of a missing wallet, license? Even STRANGER!

35. Read that article after I posted. Makes sense now.

I've gone jogging in the past with just my drivers license in a home-made pouch hanging from my neck, so it wouldn't get lost dropping out of a pocket. You know, for just in case...

and then realized they didn't want her identity...

It seems strange, not sure I can buy the simple explanation that it fell out of her tracksuit jacket as she jogged in the park....
