Democrats Kyrsten Sinema, Ann Kirkpatrick claim congressional seats

Source: Azcentral.com

Two of Arizona’s three undecided congressional races were resolved Monday as Democrats Kyrsten Sinema and Ann Kirkpatrick claimed victory in District 9 and District 1, respectively.

Sinema, a former state lawmaker, will represent the Valley in a new district that Arizona gained this year to reflect population gains. Kirkpatrick will head back to Washington to represent the sprawling northeast Arizona district she represented from 2008 to 2010.

Both will be in Washington this week for freshman orientation.

Meanwhile, the race in Tucson-based Congressional District 2 between Rep. Ron Barber, a Democrat, and Republican Martha McSally remains too close to call. On Monday afternoon, Barber was ahead by about 700 votes. The lead has seesawed back and forth between the two since Election Day.

2. So, what is the total breakdown in the House?

I am kind of curious about Boehner's so-called mandate to cut programs benefitting the middle class to support tax cuts to the rich.

5. Ann is my congresscritter AGAIN! YAY!

She ran in a "new" district 1. The RWNJ that defeated her in 2010 CD 1 race was gerrymandered to a redder part of the state (CD 4 where he's NEVER lived until now) and he will remain as long as he likes unfortunately.

CD 1 is bigger geographically than many states!

They're still counting votes in Maricopa County.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

Make Sheriff Joe go away!

14. Kyrsten may be our first female President.

She's awesome!

If Ron Barber beats McSally, Democrats will have a 5-4 edge in AZ seats in US House of Reps!

20. So do you know much about her record, Zorra? I read the article

at the link and she ran on being a "centrist" and getting along with repubs.. which would be fine if they weren't such Fascist Plutocrats!

Whatever, I know she's a lot better than who she beat..just wondering? I guess we'll find out in 2013!
