DEM in NC LT. GOV fighting for count of provisional votesLast edited Sat Nov 10, 2012, 05:27 PM USA/ET - Edit history (2) This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by muriel_volestrangler (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). Linda Coleman, the democratic candidate for lieutenant governor, said Wednesday that the race is too close to call. Coleman, in a fundraising email to supporters, said that with more than 50,000 provisional ballots left to be counted, the current margin is too close to call the race. Unofficial results for the North Carolina State Board of Elections on Wednesday showed Coleman with 2,160,375 votes, compared to Republican Dan Forest's 2,171,317 -- a difference of 10,942 votes. No link yet. Linda Coleman is fighting for her race. Today's NC Board of elections shows her with just 11,000 votes behind, and while this news story says there are 50,000 provisional votes, the letter she just sent to her supporters say there are more than 75,000 provisional votes yet to be counted. Her office is calling voters to make sure they check the Board of Elections website to confirm their provisional ballots were counted.

http://projects.newsobserver.com/node/26347 The race for lieutenant governor is frozen until Nov. 16, when local boards of election roll in provisional votes to those already counted and come up with final tallies. This is a lengthy Nov 7 story that provides more details on what is taking place: http://www.reflector.com/news/elections/lt-governor-race-continues-1342805 |

10. Locking - not Latest Breaking News

The link in the OP (when corrected - thanks, people) is from Wednesday, when the email was sent out. Even the link in reply #9 is from Thursday, and so still well outside the LBN 12 hour rule. It also appears that the counting of provisional votes is proceeding, and that there is no 'fight' for it.
This could be posted as a placeholder in Politics 2012, perhaps, until the result of the count is known. Thank you. |
