Dan Rather’s gut: ‘Good day’ for Mitt Romney

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by pinto (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

Source: Politico

I wonder, does he know something we don't? Is the fix in? I remember when right after 9-11 he said 'The President just needs to tell me where to line up and I will', what's his deal?

Longtime television journalist Dan Rather said on Tuesday that reporters shouldn’t predict elections based on their gut — but added that his tells him Mitt Romney will have a good day.

“Something in my gut tells me that it’s going to be a good day for Romney,” Rather said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “But as a reporter, you don’t report your gut. The polls all indicate, yes, Obama, he has several paths to victory, Romney has only one. But don’t taunt the alligator until after you cross the creek.”

As to Rather? Maybe he just wanted to use the alligator thing on tv.

27. Wasn't Rather

raised in the South...so the funny phrases?

I'll put my gut up against his gut any day! I think Dan is losing his 'touch' or maybe he's a bit touched.

Or by 'good day,' he means that RobMe gets to go home and count all his money in that f*cking Trust of his.

It's a sunny day in OH....not like in 2004 when it was cold and rainy. In fact, every place is without rain except IL and lower WI.

has a short memory, I guess. He reported on the Bushmonkey being AWOL and rumors of cocaine use while flying those jets around and he was fired for it by CBS. Oh by the way the bushmonkey did use cocaine, and he was consistently AWOL> Fact. Now I know he was, at that time, a spoiled rich, white man who was part of the amerikkkan aristocracy, but if I had been AWOL as much as he, I'd have a dishonorable discharge and probably would have spent time behind bars. Rather is not reasoned, he's crazy, so yeah, rather's short memory pisses me off. He should be a Democratic nominees biggest supporter, but I heard he and Rachel dogging Obama and his administration and campaign mistakes. I turned her off also. She's mercurial. fuck rather.

This is why I don't get upset over the MSM making things appear closer than they are. Yes, there are other agendas at play in the 21st century but I remember being a kid and thinking Mondale had a chance based on news reporting. I'm more concerned with what they DON'T report (i.e., potential voter fraud) than an erroneous close race meme.

If he does, the Republicans will also miraculously pick up seats in Congress. That will pretty much put the final nail in the American experiment, and it will have become obvious to anyone with a three digit IQ and a soul that a majority of voters no longer determine the winners in our state and national elections.

There's a nasty weather system running through Northern Illinois up to Green Bay, WI. I'm not scared of IL flipping, but between Paul Ryan being from there and on the ticket and nasty weather in the urban areas of the state, a closely divided WI could get a push.

61. It's a 4 year plan by republicans to make sure they steal Ohio & Florida

and unfortunately we will, probably tell us the big lie about Romney winning Ohio & Florida early tomorrow morning .

Do YOU trust the republican Secretary of State in Ohio & Florida to count the votes fairly, when they have openly purged Democratic voters, purposely forced long 5 to 9 hours voting lines in Dem precincts...Romney son's company owns the voting machines in Ohio

This has been a well planned 4 year planrd coup of swing state Ohio & Florida (everyone knew it would be a swing state it always is)

The republican Secretary of State in Ohio & Florida count the votes, they have final say, thy can do as they please they are bosses of voting & ballots and final count....Last time republican Ken Blackwell Ohio Sec of State they found over 160 thousand uncounted Dem ballots in boxes in his office....After the election it's too late to do anything...

Do you really believe these two republican Sec. of States are going to allow or say Obama won their state.

Not a chance....You must really believe in magical faries don't you.....

I hope I'm wrong but it doesn't look good for Obama....at least last time there was a democratic Sec of State in swing state Ohio in 2008 _ The Koch bros. made sure this time there would be a republican SoS in Ohio for obvious reasons.

63. Very analytical, Dan

My gut tells me when I'm hungry, whether I need to lose a few pounds and whether I've had too much spicy food.
Not who's going to win an election.

How about relying on evidence instead of gut?

Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave.

65. Dan Rather is the last living journalist in America that would ever be criticized by me.

Dan Rather has scars from exposing the Bush cabal when others were terrified to do so.

68. You disappoint me, Dan.

I like to think of you as the press corps member who popped back to Nixon "No, Mr. President - are you?"

74. To take Dan Rather to task for this quote shows how little most of...

...you know about Dan Rather.

IMO, it also shows how incredibly superstitious and insecure some of you must feel about the re-electability of the President.

The hypersensitivity displayed here by some over the last few weeks- actually since the first debate- isn't an indicator of how much you support the President. Rather, it's an indicator just how much you secrete a bubble of unreality around yourself and how far you'll go to make sure that nothing penetrates or even perturbs that bubble.

Or, put another way: You know, at the end of the day, Dan Rather is going to be doing a fuckload more supporting of our President and his policies than some House and Senate Democrats. And I rarely ever hear a peep about those fuckers.

PB

Analysis, not late breaking news. Thanks.
