NBC/WSJ/Telemundo: Obama up 50 among Latino voters

By EMILY SCHULTHEIS | 10/3/12 12:33 PM EDT
A new poll of Latino voters out from NBC/WSJ/Telemundo this afternoon shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney among the demographic by 50 points.

Obama takes 70 percent in the poll, compared with just 20 percent for Romney. Obama has a 73 percent approval rating among Latinos, up 11 points from August. He's viewed positively by 74 percent of Latino voters, compared with 17 percent who view him negatively; for Mitt Romney, just 23 percent of Latinos view him favorably, and 53 percent view him unfavorably.

And Latino voters are optimistic about where the country is headed: 55 percent of those surveyed said the country is moving in the right direction, a 12-point increase since just August. Asked which candidate can better create jobs and handle the economy, a full 58 percent chose Obama; just 20 percent chose Romney.

Obama's large double-digit lead among Latino voters is nothing new, but the fact that he's maintained it reflects the fact that the Romney team's Spanish-language media and Hispanic outreach efforts aren't breaking through. Numbers like these, barely a month before Election Day, it helps explain Romney's announcement yesterday about two-year immigrant visas after months of not commenting on the issue.

2. Now the talking point with these Teabaggers is

that only about 40% of Latinos will show up to vote so that balances out..thats what the Repuke on morning Joe said...Guess they are trying this angle now..It is unbelievable what these Repukes come up with.

6. Romney: 'If I Was Latino I'd Have a Better Shot at Winning This Thing'

Shows how racist he is if he thinks being Latino is about the color of his skin.
