Breaking story. DU'er Joanie Baloney is caught in it. She is not in any danger but had to quickly pull into a cul-de-sac to get out of the way of all the cop cars and is unable to go anywhere because the police have everything in the area closed off.
update: 3rd person reported shot...possibly the suspect. El Capitan High School (right across the street from the scene) is on lockdown.

1. Yup - I was there
I was driving down highway 67 (a 2 lane highway) when I looked in the mirror and saw a solid line of police and sheriff cars with their lights and sirens going zooming down the left lane. Everyone pulled to the right and the first wave passed by. Then came more and more - motorcycle cops, unmarked cars...even the harbor police was involved which is no where near Lakeside. At the exit where the highway ends, all roads were blocked except for one side road to funnel the traffic away from the scene. Then I noticed the helicopters - at least 3, maybe more. It was scary. I had no idea what was happening...I thought it might be a fire since that area is full of rural brush areas and very dry. But, no ambulances or fire trucks. All main roads were blocked and after checking in with Mindpilot and hearing that deputies had been shot, I made my way through back streets until I got back on the highway heading the way I had come.
A high school is right across the street and they were locked down immediately, which made the area more congested with all the worried parents coming to get their children.
Finding out now that it was a horrible child sexual abuse/porn situation with the deputies arriving to a shoot-out explains a lot. The deputies and the suspect are in hospitals now - think good thoughts for the deputies. Amazing that he confessed to the girlfriend when she confronted him.

I was never in danger, but it sure felt like it!
Press conference about to start - everyone's waiting to hear about the deputies' condition.
