Paul Ryan: Obama Doesn’t Truly Believe ‘We’re In This Together’ Because He’s Pro-Choice

Source: TPM

Paul Ryan used a strong dose of social conservatism to push back on a central message of President Obama’s: That Americans need to pull together and sacrifice in order to improve the country as a whole.

Ryan told the social conservatives gathered for the Values Voter Summit in Washington Friday that Obama’s argument is disingenuous because Obama believes in abortion rights.

“‘We’re all in this together’ — it has a nice ring,” Ryan said. “For everyone who loves this country, it is not only true but obvious. Yet how hollow it sounds coming from a politician who has never once lifted a hand to defend the most helpless and innocent of all human beings, the child waiting to be born.”

Ryan, who believes that abortion should be outlawed even in cases of rape and incest, cast Obama as an abortion extremist in the speech.

“President Obama has chosen to pander to the most extreme elements of his party,” Ryan said. “In the Clinton years, the stated goal was to make abortion ‘safe, legal and rare.’ But that was a different time, and a different president. Now, apparently, the Obama-Biden ticket stands for an absolute, unqualified right to abortion — at any time, under any circumstances, and even at taxpayer expense.”

1. Hey Paul -- when you start caring about the already-born, get back to us.

Meanwhile, go jump in a cesspool.

checking his watch and tapping his tiny foot against mommy's bladder in his impatience to be born. I am glad I don't have to deal with anyone who buys into this crap.

4. PHONY! What is less pro-life than the deaths of INNOCENT Muslim children! What is less pro-life

than ENSLAVING American troops to PRIVATE INTERNATIONAL BANKING CARTELS???

I'd say "Fuck you, Paul Ryan" if that were strong enough to express my contempt for this utter BULLSHIT.

8. Pro-Life is concerned about the VULNERABILITIES of the innnocent. Who has more of the deck stacked

against them: a fetus, with a mother, and her doctor, and a health care system of some sort, and the U.S. economy for whatever it is worth?

- OR -

A child in an uninformed culture, with 1% -ers pitching Wars 'r' U.S., a fucked-up economy not to mention profoundly chaotic politics, material disadvantages including reduced or missing the communications' technology by means of which the rest of the world is solving at least some of their problems, sporadic and increasing violence from any and all indigenous and other factions, maybe a mother and father, maybe not, maybe a family damaged by the violence and thus bearing additional burdens of caring for its children and elders ....

I could go on.

Which one is more vulnerable, Paul, you stupid phony?

Paul Ryan and other state Republicans want to cut their measly 300 dollars a month food share because a family of four need to live off of less than this man spends on one bottle of wine...

14. WELL, I am pro choice

and every other woman in this world should be pro choice if they want to. Why do men think they can prescribed what she can do with her life?

What about abortion for women who have a tubular pregnancy? Do we let her die because she can't have an abortion?

I am so sick of hearing what these idiots say about OUR issue. WE don't tell men what they must do with their problems such as impotence. Can we say, know way can you take those pills because YOU A...holes might cause a woman to be pregnant and then she wants an abortion because he lied about using a condom.

Why aren't women speaking out on TV about these issues? It is OUR time to choose.

18. Pro-Choice will result in the best mothers, because they will be women strong enough to choose

freely and that will result in the happiest best-cared for children.

The poor do have a case here, though, about how our economic system, including education and health care, mitigate AGAINST their choices, including the choice to be parents AND the choice not to be parents.

15. WE have to sacrifice. HE doesn't even want to pay his fair share of taxes. Don't make me laugh

And stop pushing your beliefs on me. This is a free country. Remember...freedom of religion??? It is because of the likes of Ryan and men like his supporters that women get abortions at all. Men think they can disrespect womens' bodies whenever they want. Yes, maybe some women like it. Most don't. Women are raped every day. Children are molested every day. Many men leave their wives and/or significant others to raise their children on their own, not even wanting to pay toward the support. Many men beat their wives and children like it's okay....every day! Well, it's NOT okay. And I'd rather abort a known unwanted fetus than let it survive and have to put up with the likes of men who fit into any one of the prior examples and save the innocent baby from suffering a life of misery. Ryan wants to get rid of Medicaid and Medicare, too. He doesn't want to take care of kids once they're here???? What is that??? He's a fake and a fraud. Don't buy into it. If men would keep their zippers up and keep it in their pants until it's desired, MOST abortions wouldn't be necessary at all.

27. Come on now

We can criticize potential political leaders all we want because we want them to agree with us and represent us...
But.. truth is its not the political leaders which dictate our culture. Our culture dictates our political leaders.
if one has a problem with the Pro-Life movement they should start pointing at the people around them. Your poster you posted above ticks me off. There are Christian (pro-life)organizations that lead the largest charities providing money, food, clothes, education, comfort, friendship, and genuine care to poverty stricken toddlers, children, teens, and adults than I have ever heard of! naming a couple...Compassion International and World vision. they dedicate their lives to helpless humans. so don't you point your finger
and act like you know what pro life is all about.. I just turned 17and I work my butt off two jobs and will have to continue doing so in order to continue to send my money every month to support a girl about to turn eight and her poor family in India. but also I will protect a fetus until i die. and if a fetus is what kills me, i will be satisfied eventually that i died for someone else. because both lives count and need to be loved.
now Obama not only wants to kill 1 week old children but he also wants to give doctors a right to kill a baby past his/her birth.look it up, he voted against the child protection act. and hello, have you heard of partial birth abortion? the child is capable of surviving, the child looks like a baby, the child has a heart beating, a child has all of its major organs, and the babe is born half way and an abortion doctor jabs scissors into the babies skull, opens the scissors up. then sucks the child's brain out with a catheter. these operations do occur. pro-life does not want people to have the right to kill these tiny defenseless lives that a whole movement of people are so pressed to have the right to kill. and heavens sake, can i say a moms tummy is the only protection a baby has?!
Any doctor who knows the stages of development of a human know that developmental process of a human starts at conception and ends at old age. anyway pro life is an issue revolving around people standing up for little men and women who other people would rather toss in the trash piece by piece because it is convenient. just think! if pro choice ppl are wrong, look how many lives they have killed? well anyway, that poster you posted is a twisted message . its a bad argument and plainly it proves nothing. its just a fallacy that turns the attention of the argument onto another focus.
we CAN redeem all parts of this nation though . If your heart is sold to ending poverty and my heart is sold to ending America's thirst to kill the defenseless, than we should team up. and work together.

22. Forgive me, but WHY is Ryan at the Values Voters summit?

I'm really wondering who's setting the direction for this campaign. Yes, I know it's part of the VP candidate's job to placate the base, but Romney and Co. seem to find a new way each day to avoid talking about the one topic they claim to have expertise in. You'd think that they'd have figured out by now that the Social Conservatives will either vote for Mittens or they won't by this point, and trying to continually reinforce the dam on their right just lets the water flow in from the left.
