WOLFEBORO, N.H., Sept 2 (Reuters) - U.S. Republicans are preparing to unleash an aggressive publicity effort at the Democratic convention in Charlotte, North Carolina this week.

While Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney rests in New Hampshire on Monday, his running mate Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan and other Republican officials will invade the Democratic gathering where President Barack Obama will kick off the home stretch of the race for the White House.

The Romney campaign indicated in a press release that the Republicans would "bracket" the convention with a new emphasis on the question: "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"

In the release, a Romney campaign official kicked off the week's counter-messaging with a blistering attack, saying that at the Democratic convention, Obama "is going to give us a series of excuses, alibis and scapegoats."

3. Lyin'Ryan you say along with the other pathological liars

and their big wig money supporters again are going after the Dems with another slogan? I guess "I did built that" and "we lure woMEN" didn't pan out so well. Pres O and his campaign are going to eat the ly-in arse GOPpers for breakfast, lunch and din din.

Speaking for myself and the surrounding family and friends, yeah hell, things are better, i.e. heath care to name one.

4. actually we are better off -- as a country

Come to think of it, maybe someone should ask Romney to show his tax returns so he can prove he ISN'T better off.... which I'm sure he is

7. I am better off, too.

My income is exclusively SS, which isn't very much but liveable, as long as I'm careful. However, before I retired, I contributed to a 401k which was meant to cover my ass when SS couldn't. I was sick and sleepless four years ago, worrying every moment as I watched my (small) life savings shrink. Even after withdrawing some each year for the last three, it's grown back to breathing-room levels. I have regained the hope it will be there when I need it. As long as the Rethugs aren't in charge.

5. Hope they enjoy the barbed wire ringed "Free speech" pen 2 miles from the convention.

Such things were their idea to begin with. No bullhorns, no posters on sticks, no drumming....etc.

6. They "will invade the Democratic gathering" sounds like they will be inside the convention center.

8. first things first

Mr. Romney is running for President of the United States.
This is a position of Trust.
Ronald Reagan said, "Trust but Verify."
Mr. Romney has said, "Trust me," re his tax returns.
It is not unreasonable for voters to want to "Verify.

What is the single issue on which Mr. Romney has never flip-flopped? He stands doggedly firm on never, under any circumstances, releasing his tax returns.

Why?

It is not just liberals who want to see Romney's tax returns.
It is 63% of American voters who do.

The longer Mr. Romney delays, the more suspicious it appears.

Obama released 8 years of tax returns
GW Bush 10 years
Clinton 12 years
GHW Bush 14 years
George Romney 12 years.

What is there to hide?

9. "Republicans would "bracket" the convention"---what does "bracket" mean? Lemme guess...

Sounds like a code word for "disrupt."

10. The question really ought to be...

"Do you think you'll be better off if we gut environmental and consumer protection regulations, Medicare and Social Security, and raise your taxes while we cut those of the already-well-off-but-insatiably-greedy people who have bought the Republican party?"

11. "Are you better off than you were four years ago?"

Translation: Would you like us to re-destroy the economy?
