Paul Ryan: I will show two years of taxes

Source: Politico

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan said Sunday that he will release two years of his tax returns, the same as Mitt Romney, but ducked a question about how many years of returns he had turned over to Romney campaign officials as part of the vetting process.

“Well, it — it was a very exhaustive vetting process. It’s a confidential vetting process, so there were several years. But I’m going to release the same amount of years that Gov. Romney has,” Ryan, the Republican Wisconsin congressman, told CBS News veteran Bob Schieffer on “60 Minutes” in GOP ticket’s first joint interview since Romney announced his VP pick.

“I’m going to be releasing two , which is what he’s releasing,” Ryan added, referring to Romney, who was sitting next to him.

Ryan said voters aren’t wondering about Romney’s decision to release only two years of tax returns - which has faced a withering barrage of attacks from the Obama campaign - but rather about “where the jobs are.” Ryan said tax returns were a side issue manufactured by Obama to distract voters from the nation’s economic woes.

Paul, thanks for keeping the tax issue in the news for a couple more cycles. Couldn't have done it without you...

22. Well said!

That's exactly what I was thinking. What a little punk Ryan is--to believe that he can try to cover for Romney's disgraceful release of only two years of tax returns.

Ryan will be destroyed. What a terrible career move for Ryan. He's hitching his wagon to a large, destructive asteroid--not a star--and it's all going to come crashing down on him.

Ryan can't save this campaign. He can't save Romney. He can't stop Romney from being an unrelatable fool with whom most Americans don't connect. Ryan may excite the 20 percent of radical wingnuts out there, but he offends everyone else. The party wingnuts would have shown up to vote against Obama anyway. It's the Independents that decide it, and Ryan's budget offends many Republicans and most Indies.

Romney will lose in November and Ryan will be forever tarnished because he will always be associated with this train-wreck campaign.

44. Well its also possible Ryan agreed to it as move for a future run at the whitehouse in 2016.

And until then to better his odds he will probably work even harder with the republicans to prevent an economic recovery.

13. Your link is page not found for me.

Here's another link:
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79646.html

I found this part very interesting:
“What we’re saying is take away the tax shelters that are uniquely enjoyed by people in the top tax brackets so they can’t shelter as much money from taxation, should lower tax rates for everybody to make America more competitive,” Ryan said.

Romney is running on the "do as I say - not as I do" platform?

Can't wait to see what's in Ryan's returns.

31. If you want to make America more "competitive," lowering taxes ain't gonna do it

You could run American taxes down to zero and not make America more "competitive" (this means 'leading the race to the bottom,' but you know how Republicans are...) because you're "competing" against countries with a $3/day minimum wage and no environmental laws.

Hey you piece of dung, elections are a vetting process too. We demand that you relese to the American people the same amount of tax returns that Willard told you had to release to him.

These people make me wan to puke

and or paid no taxes. Mittens is fighting tooooooooooo hard for his 2009 and under (years) taxes be released.

10 points to the O campaign. They are going to kick Ryan and Rmoney's arse.

Voter suppression and purging and messing with voters machines (like WI) ain't going to help. Goppers will need those polls numbers like WI to steal the elections.

21. But Romney didn't release TWO years... he released part of 2010 and a guesstimate of 2011

AND they're "working on" 2011, which means they're sanitizing it.

What an asshole smug prick he is. His comment is meant to reinforce the LIE that Romney released two. He did NOt.

30. If he released 10 or 12 years worth..it would shine the spotlight back on mittons.

and remind the voters that Romney's father released 10 years worth when he ran for president..
Don't forget, Ryan is the guy that charges his constituents for the privilege of coming to his Town Hall meetings, and then throws them out, or arrests them if they dare to ask a question he doesn't like.

So far he's released 2010 and an estimate of 2011. Estimates don't mean shit, it's what you actually file.
