Wounded mom of youngest Aurora victim suffers miscarriage, family says

Source: MSNBC

A woman who was shot in the Aurora, Colo., theater shooting rampage has suffered a miscarriage, her family said.

Ashley Moser, the mother of the youngest victim killed in the shooting, was pregnant and was shot in the neck and stomach during the attack July 20. The family said the trauma that Moser sustained caused a miscarriage and that she underwent more surgery on Saturday morning.

Moser, 25, is being treated at Aurora Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements for Moser's daughter, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6, are still pending.

2. How awful...

To endure such a loss, after having already lost her daughter, is just unbelievably horrifying. Her pregnancy could have offered a way forward, out of this tragedy, to her.

And now that's gone too.

4. She just lost her father to leukemia 8 weeks ago

Until recently, Moser and her only child, Veronica Moser-Sullivan, lived with Moser's father -- Veronica's grandfather -- David Moser. They were a tight-knit family. But eight weeks ago, David Moser, 65, died after a 10-month battle with leukemia.

Moser's father’s death crushed her, said her aunt, Annie Dalton.

“She was close with him,” Dalton said.

Dalton said her father’s illness also drained family resources; David Moser was penniless when he died, she said.

and she's paralyzed by the bullet she took to the neck. My heart goes out to her. She's endured more suffering these last months than most go through in a lifetime.

10. If you want to donate

Our sincere appreciation goes out to all of those who have been sending well-wishes, prayers and good thoughts to Ashley. Her lifetime of care will be a long road. For those who wish to donate, please go to any Wells Fargo Bank and request the "Donation Account for Ashley and Veronica Moser". This is the only official donation account for the family.

12. It was enough that she lost her 6-year-old daughter

But now her baby too? Awful. I hope she has some emotional/moral support to get through this.

18. and on a society that glorifies

violence, puts too much economic pressure on the citizens, and stigmatizes poor mental health.

The "asshole" didn't "build this by himself." The man did not live in a vacuum.
