Lester Chambers (or his son) just posted this update to his Facebook pg with a message to all of us
(GENTLY for Lester!)
What a good man. This is his response to being attacked by a crazed woman pissed off that he dedicated "People Get Ready" to Trayvon Martin. Takes me back to all of the people who stood their ground....peacefully......for civil rights. Thank you, Lester, may the love & prayers you're getting from the tons of people who know how wrong this verdict was and how pathetically horrid it was for you to be attacked for honoring Trayvon in that most appropriate way, we're glad you're on the mend and hope all of those healing vibes we're sending out are gently taking hold of you to help you heal.

2. Finally found a tad more info
Finally found some info in The Guardian -- figures it's a UK paper reporting. In bed using iPad so can't do much more. Incredible, huh?
According to the Contra Costa Times, the incident occurred midway through Chambers' performance at the Hayward-Russell City Blues festival, in California. Introducing a cover of Curtis Mayfield's People Get Ready, Chambers said that if Mayfield were still alive, the lyric "there's a train a-comin'" would be changed to "there's a change a-comin'", in response to Martin's death.
Almost immediately Dinalynn Andrews Potter leapt on to the stage – "like an acrobat", according to Chambers' wife. "She had a crazed look in her eye," a witness told the Times. "I saw the devil there." She shoved the singer before anyone else could react; Chambers, 73, was eventually taken to hospital, receiving treatment for "bruised rib muscle and nerve damage". Andrews Potter, 43, was arrested and charged with suspicion of battery, while Chambers "will be up and running soon", according to his son.

3. That's truly pathetic. Right wingers are seriously unhinged and this case
is bringing out the worst in them. Nothing worse than a smug bully who just got away with their bullshit and thinks they're invincible. This woman apparently feels emboldened by Zimmerman's "victory". Will she go to court too and plead not guilty? Notice the report states she was charged with "suspicion" of battery. So was 73 year old Chambers really at fault? He is black after all!
