4. You know it

the republicon leadership in both houses should be brought up on sedition charges if you ask me. Its clear for all to see what their agenda is. They can't be having this very good man be seen as successful for two real reasons, One is he is a Democratic President the other is he is a Black Man. The old white mans club that has had a lock of the white house since day one is the driver for all this too. You can bet on that. They see it as if Obama is seen as a good President then it will surely usher in more people of color and heaven forbid a woman to the oval office.
IMO

5. You'd go for sedition; I'd go for

treason.
Truth is a successful Obama destroys their carefully cultivated caricature of the black man - a stereotype that prevailed for centuries.
Sadly for them he has already torn down that wall. I detest ReTHUGs.

25. Treason is defined in the Constitution.

It's in Article III.
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

In history, a charge of treason was used against political opponents. The folks who wrote the Constitution wanted to make sure that in the USA a charge of treason was not a political move. I happen to agree with that.

What the Republicans are doing is despicable but it is clearly not treason. Calling it such comes off as hyperbole. The solution resides at the ballot box.

13. The most cynical Republican response to this could be:

That the President can get advise from whomever he chooses - even without a title. So, if Obama wanted Rice's opinion, he already had it. However, this is a gain because now we can get an effective diplomatic person as Secretary to the UN.

Note this implicitly gives them a strong defense as to why they were negative on the idea of her as SoS. (It also matches what seemed to be the opinion of some Democrats - and may explain why few Senators sprang to her defense.) It is insidious as it places the charge that she is not diplomatic almost as fact - and because it is not important to anyone (other than Rice), it likely would not be challenged.

23. it is possible that she learns from mistakes.

I didn't know about this, but she doesn't appear to be a brainwashed ideologue.

I'm not up on her history, but extremist ideology seems to be the province of repukes/fundies/CONservaturds. She's none of those.

But I am totally happy to see P.O. give the pukes heart attacks. May they all keel over. Face first. Into a pile of pig shit.

I love our President, I don't understand him sometimes, but I sure do love it when he stands firmly against his adversaries. Susan Rice and the appointment of the 3 judges to the DC circuit, I'm one happy guy!

20. I note that on some occasions, Republicans being against means instant support for the issue

but on others, such as any rights for LGBT people we are told that our Republican partners must be pleased with what we do, many Democrats spent years and years and years in agreement with Republicans about gay people. Obama spent years agreeing with them, opposing us. Joe Biden literally shouted out that he agreed with Palin during the debates, no marriage rights.
Just odd, that when it is for millions treated unfairly, it is easy for Democrats to stand with Republicans. They will do it again this week, they just took protections for us out of the Immigration Bill to please the GOP, yet again.
So when will 'Karl opposes' become reason enough to stand with those who are not rich ladies born to power with full rights and no empathy? That's my question.
The Republicans opposed a Public Option. Many Democrats, elected and otherwise, stood with them in that, or bowed to the pressure.
Selective 'courage' makes the typical cowardice seem even more pronounced.

22. Bravo, Bravo, Bravo!!!!!

The appointment, which Mr. Obama plans to make on Wednesday afternoon, puts Ms. Rice, 48, an outspoken diplomat and a close political ally, at the heart of the administration’s foreign-policy apparatus.

It is also a defiant gesture to Republicans who harshly criticized Ms. Rice for presenting an erroneous account of the deadly attacks on the American mission in Benghazi, Libya. The post of national security adviser, while powerful, does not require Senate confirmation.
